The nightstand is a high usage piece that needs to be as functional as it is beautiful. The top space can be made to be accessed from the front, like the piece to the left, or from the side for easier accessibility from the bed. The one drawer is plenty to accommodate nightstand storage needs, which allows for longer Shaker style legs to add to the elegance of each piece.
All corners are joined with finger/box joints while the drawer box is joined with traditional dovetail joinery.
There are a few options that can be made to accommodate individual taste. As mentioned, front or side access is one, as well as either Shaker style tapered legs or metal legs. Standard dimensions listed above can be altered.
Heres an even more minimalist version of the nightstand in terms of design. The tapered Shaker style legs are made of one piece if wood that utilizes Mortis and Tenon construction to connect the legs to the skirting.
Live edge material with resin is an option, but not a necessity. There is plenty of beauty in the design of this simple, but elegant nightstand/end table.
